Roster Updates

Help inform lawyer portal improvements

January 23, 2025: In 2025, Legal Aid Alberta is focused on improving the lawyer portal to help you manage and invoice certificates more efficiently and make it easier to work with LAA.

While there will be continuing enhancements over the next 6-18 months, we want to make sure we target the most important improvements first – and then we can continue to work on additional refinements.

The first phase of work will focus on three areas:

  • Enhancing the user experience – redesigning the lawyer portal with a modern, user-friendly interface that is intuitive and mobile-friendly, ensuring that you can perform tasks efficiently on any device
  • Streamlining the invoicing process – develop and implement a faster and more seamless invoicing process to save you the time and effort required to create, submit and track invoices
  • Improving the notification system – implement a robust notification mechanism that allows you to customize how you receive timely, actionable updates and reminders for offers, payments and profile requirements

                                                                      Join the advisory committee

To better inform business objectives for this initiative, we are seeking participation from our roster lawyers from various areas of practice, firm sizes and locations to join an advisory committee. Virtual meetings for the committee will be scheduled to gather input and feedback.

Thursday, February 13, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 27, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Further committee meetings are expected to be held quarterly as we progress.

Apply to join the committee by completing this expression of interest form if you can commit to these dates and times. Responses remain confidential between you and LAA.

We will consider applicants’ areas of law, primary court location and firm size to ensure a well-rounded committee representing all areas of law, from all across the province.

Please submit your interest no later than Friday, January 31, 2025. We will contact successful applicants the following week.

If you have any questions related to this initiative or you are unable to participate and have specific feedback you would like considered about the lawyer portal, please email [email protected].
