For Legal Aid Alberta staff lawyers, the season of giving lasts all year.
In addition to protecting Albertans’ legal rights 24/7, our staff lawyers share their knowledge and insights on legal issues as guests on Global Edmonton’s morning news program once a month.
Our lawyers bring their expertise and experience to a vast audience, providing valuable legal information about family, criminal and immigration law. They are a reliable source of information, busting myths about the legal system and how the justice system works.
In 2024, guest lawyers addressed a range of issues, including a person’s right in police custody and who qualifies for legal aid, LAA’s role in specialty courts like mental health court and Indigenous courts. In a segment exploring how courts treat family pets in divorce cases, LAA’s first canine guest, Muffin, made her debut.
