May 13, 2022 – As Legal Aid Alberta moves forward with tariff modernization, we are making sure that roster lawyers know that they are an essential part of the process.
To mitigate concerns that are specific to our roster lawyers, we have put together two Tariff Consultation Committees made up of 8-10 roster lawyers each, representing the two main areas in which Legal Aid Alberta provides services: criminal law and family and immigration law.
To help us capture a wide variety of the roster’s perspective, these lawyers were selected to ensure a diversity of location, experience and firm size.
Our aim is to make our roster lawyers’ lives easier – to create a sustainable, equitable tariff and a billing process free of administrative burdens so that you can focus your time on what really matters: representing the most disadvantaged in Alberta. With the help of these committees, we know we can achieve this.
Once the tariff framework is drafted, we will be providing all roster with a first look and welcoming feedback at that time.
Stay tuned for more exciting news about the tariff process.
